| Title of Invention | Method for producing small intestine tissue |
| Abstract | The invention relates to a method for producing small intestinal epithelial cells or small intestinal tissue. More specifically, it relates to a method for producing small intestinal epithelial cells or small intestinal tissue, which includes a step of culturing midgut cells under specific conditions, and uses of the small intestinal epithelial cells or small intestinal tissue obtained by the method. |
| Comments |
According to the present invention, small intestinal epithelial cells can be produced from midgut cells. Furthermore, small intestinal epithelial cells and mesenchymal cells such as fibroblasts can be induced to differentiate from pluripotent stem cells simultaneously within a single microfluidic device. The mesenchymal cells produce extracellular matrix such as collagen and niche factors, allowing the small intestinal epithelial cells to exhibit polarity and functions similar to those of the living body. This invention is expected to be useful for cells used in regenerative medicine and various drug discovery tests. |
