| Abstract | Provided is a culture medium capable of establishing expanded potential stem cell (EPSC) lines which resemble naive or ground state ES cells, but are also able to differentiate into placenta trophoblasts and the embryo proper, comprising steps of culturing a population of pluripotent cells in an expanded potential stem cell medium (EPSCM) containing one or more of a Ras-ERK inhibitor, a Src Kinase family (SFK) inhibitor, a GSK3 inhibitor, and a Wnt inhibitor, wherein the EPSCM further comprises a Jun N-Terminal Kinase (JNK) inhibitor and/or a p38 inhibitor, LIF, or IGF-II. |
