First Overseas Licensing-in from a University (New Zealand)
A non-exclusive license agreement with a sublicensing right has been executed with Auckland UniServices Limited in New Zealand on their invention by Associate Professor Bronwen Connor relating to a method for direct reprogramming of fibroblast cells into neural precursor cells. The method enables easy and quick production of multipotent neural precursor cells by delivery of only two factors, namely Sox2 and Pax6, into adult human fibroblast cells.
This is our first case of overseas licensing-in, and we will be extensively involved in the spread and commercialization of this invention through sub-licensing. With this as a starting point, we will continue to collect useful patents and patent applications from worldwide to make our patent portfolio attractive, powerful and convenient for licensees.
